When enquiring into genealogy, family history, and/or local history etc. you'll find that most locations in Denmark are identified from the County (Danish: ~Amt), District (Danish: ~Herred), or Parish (Danish: Sogn) in which they are located. For practical purposes the 24 Counties which existed from 1793 to 1970 are used.

King Cnut the Great
Cnut the Great, King of Denmark who lived c. 985/995-1035 AD, in addition to controlling the majority of Scandinavia, also reigned as King of England from 1016 until his death in 1035, thereby bringing the crowns of England and Denmark together. Cnut was buried at Winchester in Hampshire, England.
